Salem, Ore. – The City of Salem moved its Public Notices to the Salem Reporter starting in August, which is expected to yield thousands of dollars in savings over the course of each year.
In the past, the City has spent tens of thousands of dollars per year on public notices – more than $5,000 apiece for some longer public notices, which were previously charged by the column inch. This is a new service offered by The Reporter, whichcharges a flat $100 fee for each notice, plus $20 for an affidavit of publication.
During the 2024 fiscal year, the City spent more than $52,000 on legal notices, spread across 62 different invoices representing at least one legal notice each, for an average cost of $838 per invoice.
Public notices can also be found on the City of Salem website under Planning Notices and Decisions and Other Public Notices.
