Salem, Ore. — Join us in welcoming Navy Week to Salem at our proclamation ceremony and Brass Quintet performance Tuesday, September 26, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Peace Place in the Salem Civic Center.
The Brass Ensemble of the Northwest Navy Band will perform, followed by a proclamation ceremony between Mayor Chris Hoy and Navy Rear Admiral Charles “Mike” Brown.
Throughout the week, Navy personnel will be at schools and helping organizations, history sites and youth centers, and, of course, on the water working to make our community better.
Navy Week is an effort to reach out to areas of the nation without a significant Navy presence. The program is designed to share with Americans how their Navy is deployed around the world and around the clock, and why a strong Navy is vital to protecting the American way of life.
Since 2005, they’ve had more than 250 Navy Weeks in 80 different U.S. cities.
