Salem, Ore. -- This year marks the 50th anniversary of Salem Civic Center and you can use your photographic skills to help celebrate. The City of Salem is hosting a Civic Center 50th Anniversary photo contest to honor the art, architecture and history of our campus at 555 Liberty St. SE, and our community.
The Civic Center campus offers a wide range of photographic opportunities, including the flora and fauna of the reflecting pond, the historically significant New Brutalist architecture, and the public art collection scattered throughout the site.
Enter your modern-day or historic photos in our five photo categories:
- Civic Center Building Exterior
- Civic Center Building Interior
- Animals/Wildlife at the Civic Center
- Salem in the 70s (Pull out your photo albums!)
- Civic Center Photos by Staff
You are allowed to enter one photo per category. Entries must be submitted by July 31, 2022. Upload your photos and sign a release.
The contest will be judged by the Salem Historic Landmarks Commission. Prizes will be given for top entries and an honorable mention will be awarded in each category.
Entries may be used in a Civic Center 50th anniversary photo exhibit featured during our 50th anniversary celebration Thursday, August 18, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center. The event will feature a resource fair, live entertainment, games, tours, a scavenger hunt, a 70s-style costume party and much more.
