Salem Honors The Many Contributions Of Gerry Frank (Photo) - 03/14/22

We at the City of Salem extend our condolences to the friends, family and colleagues of Salem's own Gerry Frank, who died Sunday at age 98.

"He was a tremendous supporter of the City and its progress over the years," said Salem Mayor Chuck Bennett. "He was an energetic champion of every aspect of our community life, from the arts to business development. He truly was our First Citizen."

The City of Salem was fortunate to be able to play a role in honoring Frank during his lifetime with the Salem Rotary | Gerry Frank Amphitheater in Riverfront Park, which opened in 2021.

His fundraising efforts and personal benevolence touched many parts of Oregon. Salem, for example, benefitted from his $1 million donation to the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

He was also a familiar longtime Salem businessman. His colorful wardrobe made him hard to miss on downtown sidewalks. The amphitheater will be lit up in vibrant colors tonight in his honor.
