WHEN: Friday, June 8 at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Salvation Army Kroc Center, 1865 Bill Frey Dr, Salem
The City of Salem will provide an update to the media on Salem’s drinking water advisory for vulnerable populations tomorrow, June 8 at 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, 1865 Bill Frey Dr, Salem.
City staff and agency partners will be available to answer questions on the data we receive early tomorrow.
On June 7, we received results from Tuesday’s sampling of our water distribution system. The results show the level of cyanotoxins in our water distribution system have decreased below Health Advisory levels. This means that the water advisory will continue and, if Wednesday’s results (which we expect to receive as early as Friday) show reduced levels again, the drinking water advisory may be lifted Friday, at the earliest.
On Wednesday, June 6, the City of Salem issued a new drinking water advisory for our vulnerable populations based on test results we received this morning from sampling that occurred June 2, 3, and 4. To see the most current water test results available, please visit: https://www.cityofsalem.net/Pages/water-quality-test-data.aspx
Salem’s water is safe to drink for the majority of our residents and no action is needed. We will lift the advisory when we receive two consecutive days of sampling results below the EPA Health Advisory levels.
