News Release

Horn Rapids Road Closure Shifts November 2 For Final Phase Of Sewer Extension Project (Photo) - 10/30/26

Beginning Monday, November 2, 2026, Horn Rapids Road between Kingsgate Way and the Framatome entrance will be closed to through traffic as the City of Richland begins the final phase of its North Horn Rapids Sewer Extension Project.

The closure is expected to remain in place through November 13, 2026, while crews complete paving and pavement markings along Horn Rapids Road. This final phase marks the completion of sewer infrastructure improvements and road reconstruction designed to support future growth and development in north Richland.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured via Kingsgate Way, Battelle Boulevard, and Stevens Drive. Access to Framatome will remain available from the east only, via Stevens Drive.

Electronic reader boards have been placed in the area to notify motorists of the upcoming closure. Framatome has also been notified of the construction schedule and is communicating access information to employees.

The North Horn Rapids Sewer Extension Project includes approximately 6,500 feet of sanitary sewer main and related infrastructure to expand sewer service capacity in the Horn Rapids area. The project supports the City's ongoing efforts to accommodate planned growth and economic development while maintaining reliable utility services.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs and traffic control devices throughout the closure.

Additional project information, including detour maps and updates, is available at richlandwa.gov/Projects.

The City of Richland appreciates the community's patience and cooperation as crews complete this important infrastructure project.
