News Release
Richland Announces Preparations for Upcoming Queensgate Drive Construction - 02/16/18

Per the City of Richland's Capital Improvement Plan, the identified Queensgate Drive Improvement Projects are scheduled to begin construction in Spring 2018. These efforts will address existing traffic challenges on Queensgate Drive, south of the I-182 interchange.

The projects include construction of a roundabout at the Queensgate Drive/Columbia Park Trail intersection and will extend Columbia Park Trail to the west, connecting to Jericho Court. The project will also widen Queensgate Drive between Keene Road and the eastbound I-182 ramp terminals to four lanes (two lanes each way), with a curbed center left turn median. In addition, a new westbound right turn lane on Keene Road will be constructed. Images of the project design are accessible on the City's website at www.ci.richland.wa.us/Queensgate.

In partnership with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), an additional roundabout will replace the existing signalized intersection at the eastbound ramp terminals on I-182 at Queensgate Drive. The roundabout will provide right turn slip lanes and an additional merge lane to the Eastbound on-ramp with I-182.

The projects will also provide on-street bike lanes along Queensgate and connect into the shared use pathways along Queensgate and I-182.

Contractor Bids will be opened in February/March and construction is anticipated to be underway sometime in April 2018. Completion is expected in August 2018. A more detailed schedule will be published once a contractor has been confirmed.

While this area will be a construction zone, residents should expect detours. The project planning has included provisions to reduce inconvenience and congestion, including a significant amount of work at night. All commercial business access will remain accessible throughout the project.
