5 Cooling Centers In Hillsboro During Excessive Heat -08/17/22
The City of Hillsboro is working to help community members during upcoming excessive heat. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Advisory in effect from Wednesday, August 17, at 12 pm until Thursday, August 18, at 10 pm.
A map of cooling centers, water dispensers, and spraygrounds in Hillsboro can be found at Hillsboro-Oregon.gov/Heat. Locations and hours during the Excessive Heat Advisory are listed below.
Cooling Centers
Cooling centers will be open with air conditioning, seating, activities, and access to water. If you don’t have air conditioning at home, spend as much time as you can where air conditioning is available.
The health and safety of staff and visitors at cooling centers is our highest priority. Face coverings (masks) are available within City of Hillsboro cooling centers.
Brookwood Library
- Wednesday & Thursday: 10 am to 8 pm (regular hours)

Shute Park Library
- Wednesday & Thursday: 10 am to 8 pm (regular hours)
- 775 SE 10th Avenue
Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center
- Wednesday & Thursday: 5:30 am to 9 pm (regular hours)
- 953 SE Maple Street
Hidden Creek Community Center
- Wednesday & Thursday: 5:30 am to 9 pm (regular hours)
- 5100 NE Hidden Creek Drive
In addition, Washington County will operate a Cooling Center in Hillsboro:
Former Salvation Army Building - Pet-Friendly
- Wednesday & Thursday: 11 am to 9 pm
- 1440 SE 21st Ave
- Pets are allowed, please be prepeared to work with shelter staff
Water Dispensers
Clean, safe, and cold drinking water will be available through Hillsboro Water's Hometown Tap Wednesday through midday Friday.
Please bring your own refillable water bottle, cup, or container.

Spraygrounds
Six spraygrounds, including the fountains on the Civic Center Plaza, are open to help families cool off. Most spraygrounds are open from 9 or 10 am to 8 pm. See sprayground hours.
