City Of Gladstone COVID-19 Update 3/16/2020 - 03/16/20

On behalf of the Gladstone Mayor and Councilors, we recognize the economic hardship that may impact our community during the current public health emergency due to the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, the city will suspend all late penalties and termination of water service for the next four weeks so that everyone in the community has access to clean water for proper hygiene. We will also suspend late penalties on municipal court fines.

As part of our COVID-19 outbreak mitigation efforts, we have closed the doors at City Hall, but will be open for business. We are encouraging everyone to consider making utility billing payments and municipal court fines by using the drop boxes outside, or on-line. We will also be increasing our communication via e-mail and phones.

All city meetings and events have been canceled until further notice; specifically this includes:

·        No Planning Commission Meeting on March 17th.

·        No City Council work session on March 24th

·        No Easter Egg Hunt on April 11th

The Governor called an emergency meeting last night for all the Mayor’s. Mayor Stempel has been participating and will keep staff and the Council appraised of situations. We will also have the Mayor prepare an updated via video later in the week.

Please continue to show compassion to one another. There is anxiety and this outbreak as disrupted our daily routines and caused stress for all of us. Take deep breaths and remember that we are doing this to protect each to each, the people we love, and the community you call home.
