News Release
City of Battle Ground launches new website - 09/18/18

Battle Ground, WA - Visitors to the City of Battle Ground’s website  will discover a fresh new look, improved accessibility, and updated content designed to serve and engage city residents, businesses, and the larger community of  website users.

The website redesign project to replace a site originally launched in 2011 began in February of this year and involved a team of staff from each city department.  Goals for the redesign included improved user experience and accessibility, a commitment to transparency and accountability, easy access to online services, and an aesthetically pleasing site that reflects the Battle Ground community.

Accessibility to all users was a key component of the redesign project.  With nearly 40% of all users accessing the city’s site via mobile devices, the redesign team focused on technology that is responsive to mobile users.  The site was built using ADA compliance tools and features a third-party translation service.

The redesign, however, did not simply transfer old content to a new platform.  Each department was committed to improving its website pages with a user's perspective in mind.  For some departments, it meant a comprehensive overhaul with new content and navigation.  All departments worked to ensure users have easy access to information and services.

The site’s new look reflects the Battle Ground community and its beautiful surroundings.  Graphics are used throughout the site to provide interest and to help guide website users.

A new feature on the website’s homepage - Open Government - provides easy access to information that is often difficult to find.  Examples include a map and list of active development projects; city property, sales, and utility tax information; annual audit and financial reports; City Council meeting minutes; a map and reports of criminal activity; and more.

“We believe that transparency builds trust, “notes Mayor Mike Dalesandro, “The City of Battle Ground is committed to accessible, accountable and transparent government practices.”
