Battle Ground Kids Shop with a Cop (Photo) - 12/09/17

Battle Ground, WA - Eight deserving kids spent this morning shopping for gifts for their families and items for themselves at Battle Ground's Shop with a Cop at Walmart. Their shopping partners, five of BGPD's finest who volunteered for the event, met the children at the police department for juice and donuts before leaving in police cars for a lights-on motorcade to the Battle Ground Walmart.

Participating children attend primary or middle schools in Battle Ground and were nominated by school staff for their exemplary citizenship and academic efforts. Each child was granted $300, as much time as they needed to shop with their cop, and the assistance of a Walmart store associate. The smiles of all involved, and all who witnessed the activities, reflected the season's joy of giving.

Battle Ground's Shop with a Cop is made possible by a $2,500 Walmart Community Grant.

"We appreciate Walmart's support of this program," said Police Chief Bob Richardson, "These kids are deserving and our officers appreciate the opportunity to further build relationships with them and with the public we serve."
