SR-502/503 Congestion Relief Project
SR-502/503 Congestion Relief Project
Battle Ground SR-502/503 Congestion Relief Project: Traffic revisions ahead (Photo) - 11/20/17

Battle Ground, WA - Two major traffic revisions related to Battle Ground's SR-502/503 Congestion Relief Project - Phase 1 are projected to occur the first week of December. The revisions will affect access to and from the Battle Ground Fred Meyer shopping area located at the northwest corner of State Routes 502 and 503.

This phase of the larger project addresses gridlock on Main Street and at the SR-502/503 intersection with two major traffic revisions:

* NW 5th Way, just north of Fred Meyer, has been extended east to connect to SR-503. The new roadway will provide right-in and right-out access to and from the shopping area. Already constructed, the road will not open for use until concrete barriers are placed along the centerline of SR-503. NW 5th Way is projected to open for use on December 2 or 3.

* The NW 12th Ave/Main St signal will be removed and a median installed on Main St to restrict traffic on 12th Ave to right-in and right-out only. This revision will not take place until after NW 5th Way opens. Removal of the light and installation of a barrier (a temporary barrier until a permanent median is constructed) is projected to occur the night of December 5.

It is important to recognize that these are projected dates and that variations in weather, and contractor/sub-contractor and WSDOT schedules may affect them. Updates, as they occur, will be posted to the city's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CityofBGWA.

The traffic revisions will affect how motorists access and exit from the Fred Meyer Shopping area. The attached maps/graphics are meant to assist motorists in planning for the traffic revisions to come. Large map displays are also available at both entrances to the Battle Ground Fred Meyer and smaller versions have been made available to businesses located in the shopping area.

An online map of the traffic revisions and additional information about the larger, multi-year Congestion Relief Project is available on the city's website at www.cityofbg.org/congestion-relief.
