Chemeketa Community College To Offer Online Criminal Justice Degree - 02/24/22
Starting spring term, Chemeketa will offer a fully online Criminal Justice degree
Brooks, Ore., February 24, 2022 — Chemeketa Community College will begin offering an online Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice starting spring term 2022. The online courses will be available in a two-year rotation and will fulfill all requirements for the Criminal Justice AAS degree.
All other electives and course requirements for an Associate of Arts degree are currently available online through Chemeketa Community College. The online degree option is ideal for current police officers, correctional officers, and correctional deputies who are already certified through the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. To be promoted to a sergeant or receive specialty assignments, officers often need an AAS degree. While this program is ideal for professionals already employed in law enforcement, any student who is interested in a career in law enforcement is eligible.
"The Criminal Justice AAS degree will be available completely on-line starting in spring 2022. Professionals already in the field and interested students are encouraged to contact the Chemeketa criminal justice department,” says Michael Withington, Law Enforcement Instructor at Chemeketa Community College. “By offering this program fully online, working students can complete their educational goals which will open up advancement opportunities and specialty assignments, provide professional growth, and prepare individuals for advanced DPSST certifications."
