Canby Fire Closes Burning Due To Weather Conditions - 04/14/21

RE:      OPEN BURNING STATUS

On April 13, 2021 Canby Fire responded to two large brush fires. The cause of both fires was from open burning and high wind speeds contributed to the spread of the fires. Firefighters had to fight these fires in steep terrain for over four hours. During the same time Molalla Fire and Clackamas Fire (CCFD1) also had brush fire breakouts. The two fires required assistance from Aurora, CCFD1, Colton, Molalla, and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue (TVF&R).

Chief Davis reminds everyone that open burning is shut down until conditions improve. Conditions will be re-evaluated on April 20, 2021. Please call the Fire District’s burn line at 503.266.1195 before burning. A majority of Clackamas County Fire Districts have put on a burn ban, including Canby, Molalla, CCFD1, and TVF&R. The Oregon Department of Forestry also supports the shutdown of open burning.

Sincerely,

James X. Davis (Fire Chief, Canby Fire District)
