Camas School Board Announces Interim Superintendent - 04/01/21

During a special meeting this evening, the Camas School Board announced that Doug Hood, Director of Elementary Education, will take the helm as Interim Superintendent beginning July 1, 2021. The Board previously announced its intent to appoint an interim in order to complete a thorough superintendent search during the 2021-22 school year. In March, current Camas Superintendent Jeff Snell was selected to take the lead at Vancouver Public Schools beginning July 1.

School Board President Tracey Malone stated, “Jeff left some very large shoes to fill. We want to be certain that the district continues on its course while we look to fill the superintendent role. Doug Hood will do an amazing job moving us forward next year.”

Doug Hood has served in his role at Camas School District since 2018. He has worked in education for 25 years. Previously, he was a teacher, associate principal, elementary principal, and executive director of elementary and middle schools at Vancouver Public Schools. Hood and his family make their home in Camas.

“I am looking forward to continuing our equity work as we continue to examine our practices and systems to ensure that our students have multiple opportunities to demonstrate their passions and who they are as individuals,” said Hood. “The next school year will come with challenges, possibilities, and opportunities in our continuation to develop our practice of serving students and families in Camas.”

At an earlier meeting in March, the Board selected McPherson & Jacobson, LLC, to assist in a nationwide search for the district’s next Superintendent.
