Camas Lions At Shark Tank (Photo) - 03/08/24

6th grade students at Odyssey Middle School, Camas, have been studying ways to restore native ecosystems in an effort to combat climate change and support good mental health in their classmates through connections with nature. Camas Lions Club members, Sherry Keene, Karen Wales and Patty Wolf, participated in Odyssey Re-Imagined, a Shark Tank approach to get support for student projects.Ten teams of students presented environmental and ecosystem improvement projects for Odyssey Middle School's campus to a panel of adults, older students and staff, including members of Lions, Rotary Club and PTO, to raise support for their projects through donations of money, materials, time and expertise. We listened to well researched and presented ideas for planting native plants, restoring animal and bird habitats, providing flowers for pollinators and creating more places for students to experience the calming and restorative effects of being in natural surroundings. Camas Lions Club will be providing full or partial funding for 4 of the projects. If any Lions members are interested in providing materials, time and/or expertise, please contact Robert T. More, 6th grade teacher and Odyssey Middle School Associated Student Body Advisor.
Respectfully submitted by Sherry Keene, Camas Lions Club
