D11 Hosts 2nd Annual Shadow a Teacher Day
D11’s second annual Shadow a Teacher Day took place on March 11–12, 2026, giving high school students the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a teacher. Students not only observed classrooms but also had the chance to teach a lesson, gaining hands-on insight into the profession.
This year’s event had strong participation across the district:
- 127 teachers volunteered to host student shadows
- More than 70 students participated
- 43 schools welcomed students over two days
Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive. One student described the experience as the “highlight of my month,” while another called it “one of the best events I have done.” Others shared that the experience helped them realize that teaching is “important, needed, and impactful.”
Events like this play an important role in strengthening D11’s Grow-Your-Own educator pipeline, with several students expressing interest in continuing their journey through Teacher Cadet, Early Childhood Education, and other Education courses.
