The Colorado Springs School District 11 hosts Student-Focused Green Summit in Collaboration with Local Community Partners - 09/09/24

D11 is excited to announce the first-ever Student-Focused Green Summit, in partnership with Schneider Electric. The event will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the RJ Wasson Academic Campus bringing together students, educators, and local community leaders to address critical environmental challenges and explore innovative solutions to promote sustainability.   As the city is sharing its state of the city address, students from D11 are engaged in a thoughtfully planned symposium on preparing for the future with a sustainable focus.

This groundbreaking summit aims to empower students to take active roles in shaping a sustainable future, providing a platform for young leaders to collaborate with experts and local organizations. The event will feature a variety of interactive workshops and hands-on activities centered around themes such as climate action, waste reduction, renewable energy, and community-driven environmental initiatives.

“At D11, we believe that students are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also change-makers today,” said John Berdon, Energy & Sustainability Manager at D11, “This summit is a unique opportunity for our students to engage with sustainability issues that directly impact their lives and communities. By collaborating with local partners, we can inspire meaningful change together.”
