College Place Public Schools Announces Sager Middle School Principal (Photo) - 03/16/23

College Place Public Schools has found the new leader of Sager Middle School after a search that spanned across the country and lasted nearly six weeks.  The school district chose current Davis Elementary School Assistant CORRECTION Principal Chris Plucker as the new principal to begin July 1, 2023.  Plucker was offered and accepted the position Thursday pending board approval at the regular board meeting March 28, 2023.

Superintendent Jim Fry said, “we had as extensive of a search to fill this position as you can have and to select someone right in our backyard and working in our schools at the end shows that Chris Plucker is absolutely the right choice.  Chris’ passion for young people is undeniable and his desire to support and work alongside the staff who serve them is unmatched.  I appreciated that from the day this position opened, Chris said he wanted to compete to show he was the right person for the role.”

Mr. Plucker has an extensive background in the Walla Walla Valley growing up in Touchet, having served as a City Council Member in Walla Walla, teaching middle school English/Language Arts, Social Studies, and Leadership at Pioneer Middle School, before moving to Davis Elementary as the Assistant Principal for the past six years. Chris currently serves as the Lions Club President in College Place and has been active in numerous other community activities.

Mr. Plucker stressed a desire to work with the staff, students, and community to support and build upon the incredible work already in progress.  “I am honored to be offered this position.  While it will be hard to leave Davis, I am excited to continue the great work in College Place at Sager.”

College Place Board Member Mandy Thompson added, “The board is pleased to support the recommendation of the Sager Middle School staff, community, and Superintendent Fry in hiring Chris Plucker to lead Sager starting July 1st.  Chris is a talented and respected leader in our district who has shown he is the person to fill this important role.  We look forward to Chris continuing the great things going on at Sager!”

College Place Public Schools will open the Assistant Principal position at Davis Elementary School held by Plucker immediately.  Interested candidates can apply at
