B-roll video from crime scene:

At approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Riverside Park area in Clackamas following 911 calls about a disturbance that led to a shooting. One person was injured, and the suspect is in custody. Authorities are seeking tips.

The shooting occurred a short distance upriver from the park. Deputies arrived to find that the male victim, 26, had sustained an injury to his leg related to gunfire following an argument between his friend and the suspect.

The victim told deputies he was trying to defuse the argument between his friend and the suspect when the suspect began shooting.

Deputies detained a suspect -- Philip Eric Pierce Jr., 33, of Happy Valley -- without incident. Pierce had been fishing along the river prior to arguing with the victim's friend for reasons unknown at this writing.

SE Evelyn Street was closed at SE Jennifer Street while deputies investigated.

The Sheriff's Office Marine Unit also deployed to the shooting scene. CCSO's patrol boat was used to transport the victim a short distance downriver to the park, where he was treated by AMR and Clackamas Fire District #1 and transported to an area hospital. Life Flight was notified, but that call was canceled by authorities -- the victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

The area was opened for public access again shortly before 8 p.m.

Philip Eric Pierce Jr. was transported to the Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:
