Circumstances found on arrival; actions taken: Crook County Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a working structure fire in an RV, located on a commercial lot, on NW Gardner Road, at approximately 2337 hours, on Tuesday, August 26, 2026. Arriving crews found a RV trailer fully engulfed, with fire spreading to two nearby vehicles. Crews made access to the back-storage lot and extinguished the RV and vehicle fires. A single occupant was located deceased inside the RV.
Responding Apparatus and Personnel: Crook County Fire & Rescue responded with three engines, one ambulance, and two command vehicles, with a total of 12 firefighters.
Aid assistance by: Crook County Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene and with the investigation by Prineville Police Department, Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Oregon State Fire Marshal, and the Crook County District Attorney’s Office.
Probable fire cause: At the conclusion of the investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental, though the exact cause was undetermined.
