Circumstances found on arrival; actions taken: Crook County Fire and Rescue responded to a brush fire SW Rimrock Road, in Prineville, Oregon, at 12:13 pm on August 11, 2023. Crews arrived to find the fire actively burning on several properties, threatening at least four buildings, including two homes. The fire was contained to approximately one acre in size. The fire did not damage any of the threatened structures. The cause of the fire was a burn barrel too close to combustibles.
Injuries, rescues, other information of interest: No injuries.
Responding Apparatus: Two engines, a water tender, an ambulance, several command vehicles, and several state and federal wildland engines.
Mutual Aid assistance by: Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, Oregon Department of Forestry, City of Prineville Police Department, Crook County Sheriffs Office, and Redmond Fire who sent an ambulance to help cover the district during the fire operation.
