News Release
Levy Lid-Lift: Fire Chief Available Electronically - 07/07/20

Clark County Fire District 6 has a Fire Levy lid lift on the August 4 Primary Election ballot. Normally, we would ask to meet with you in person to answer questions if you planned to editorialize on the ballot measure.

These are not normal times due to COVID-19. We are emergency service professionals, who deal with responding to infectious diseases on a regular basis. We are willing to meet in person using procedures that we employ for public interactions to prevent potential spread of the virus. If an in-person meeting is not doable, we would welcome any questions you have in writing or by phone about our ballot measure.

Call volumes for Clark County Fire District 6 have increased almost 30 percent in five years – 13 percent in the last year alone. Our lid lift would return the Fire Levy to the previously voter-approved amount of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value. Funding would be used for additional personnel to respond to higher call volumes; improve firefighter training; earthquake-proof our busiest station in Hazel Dell; and, add or replace aging apparatus.

We appreciate our partnership with the news media to share information about how we work to save lives and property. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to do a social distancing or zoom interview.
