OREGON CITY – The Clackamas Community College Alexander Gallery presents “Microclimates,” a solo exhibition by Portland-based artist Hilary Pfeifer. This exhibition runs Sept. 21-Dec. 4. An artist reception will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and Pfeifer will speak about her work at 11:30 a.m.

In “Microclimates,” mixed media installations and sculptural works are created from reclaimed materials to explore our relationship with the evolving natural world. Pfeifer uses humor, play and curiosity to create insects, plants, bird nests and trees that explore the attempt to master nature and how nature adapts or reasserts itself.

Pfeifer's work has been shown throughout the United States and included in permanent collections such as Museum of Art and Wood in Philadelphia, Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, Oregon, and the White House. Her work has been supported by the Puffin Foundation, Regional Arts and Culture Council, Oregon Arts Commission and the McKenzie River Gathering Foundation. 

The Alexander Gallery is located in the Niemeyer Center on the Clackamas Community College Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave., and is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with the exception of college holidays.
