CCC Hosts Fifth Annual Indigenous Peoples Day Event (Photo) - 09/13/26

OREGON CITY — Clackamas Community College invites the public to join its celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day on Saturday, Oct. 10, noon-4 p.m. This free event will feature local Indigenous artisans and community resources, vendors, music performances, community advocate presentations, food and opportunities to learn about and connect with indigenous communities in our region.

“What makes Clackamas Community College's Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration so meaningful is that it goes beyond recognizing history. It provides an opportunity to witness Indigenous people thriving as entrepreneurs, artists, leaders, storytellers and innovators,” said Casey Layton, the college’s chief culture and impact officer. “For five years, I have watched and participated alongside community members generously sharing their knowledge, culture and experiences in ways that deepen understanding and connection.”

Indigenous Peoples Day is sponsored by multiple partners, including the Clackamas Community College Foundation, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Clackamas County, Wenaha Group and Respond to Racism.

“This celebration honors the Indigenous peoples who have been the stewards of this land since time immemorial while also celebrating the vibrant contributions they continue to make today,” Layton said. “When you attend this event, the honoring is active, the learning is authentic, and the sense of community is undeniable."

The event will take place at the Niemeyer Center on the college’s Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave. Parking is free.
