'Simmer' opens in the Alexander Gallery (Photo) - 10/03/19

OREGON CITY – Clackamas Community College (CCC) will host the work of Kate Simmons Oct. 9-Nov. 1 in the Alexander Gallery.

“Simmer” calls attention to the cyclical nature of childhood, memory and relationships from the perspective of a maternal lens. The exhibit features largescale installations that reflect the body in physical or metaphorical ways. “Simmer” showcases approximately one dozen works constructed from materials including human hair, wool, antique objects, cast plaster, clay and printed material that investigate elements of time, connection to thought and characteristics of the material and process.

Simmons is a CCC art instructor. Her work has been exhibited in several regional galleries and museums and has been supported by the Regional Arts and Culture Council and Clackamas County Arts Alliance.

This exhibition is free and open to the public. An informal artist talk will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2 p.m., at the Alexander Gallery.

The Alexander Gallery is located in Niemeyer Center on the Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave., and is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with the exception of campus holidays.

For questions, contact Simmons at 503-594-3032 or kates@clackamas.edu. For more information on Clackamas Community College’s art exhibits and performances, visit www.clackamas.edu/art.
