OREGON CITY – Rock out at this year’s Music Performance Technology Festival at Clackamas Community College on Saturday, April 20.

Each spring, the college’s music department holds three days of workshops, interactive sessions and performances for students and the community. The festival includes a garage band contest that invites high school bands, singer/songwriters and solo vocalists to bring their original music and perform for industry professionals who give them helpful advice and direction. The top garage band receives 10 hours of free studio time at the college.

“The Music Performance Technology Festival gives our students the chance to learn from successful artists as well as showcase their own talents,” CCC Vocal Music Director Kathleen Hollingsworth said.

The festival concludes with a concert, featuring the garage band winners, special guest artists and the Clackamas Community College Contemporary Music Ensemble performing the music of Fleetwood Mac. The concert is open to the public and starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Osterman Theatre, 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City. Tickets are $5.

Clackamas Community College offers a music performance technology degree, which provides skills in musicianship and performance, technical training in recording, digital audio and studio production, as well as the business skills necessary for an entrepreneurial musical career.
