Clark County Seeks Two Volunteer Residential Park Hosts For Lewisville Regional Park (Photo) - 10/08/26

Clark County Public Works is seeking two adults who are committed to working together to serve as park hosts to care for Lewisville Regional Park and its historic structures. These positions are part of Public Works’ volunteer park host program, where volunteers live at a county park and perform basic security and maintenance duties.


The park hosts at Lewisville Regional Park, located in Battle Ground, must reside in the county-owned residence at the park and assist with creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. Host duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Clean the park’s restrooms daily and as needed in response to messes.
  • Open the park’s gates by 7 a.m. and close gates at dusk (a half-hour after sunset), daily. Hosts notify park users that the park is closing.
  • Empty the park’s garbage cans.
  • Pick up litter daily.
  • Notify staff of emergencies, urgent maintenance needs, or impacts of severe weather.
  • Help identify and respond to safety and security concerns.

Lewisville Regional Park is the oldest and the most popular park in the county’s park system. In the summer months, more than a thousand people visit the park on weekend days. The park has about 35 toilets, more than a dozen reservable picnic shelters, and many facilities that require daily cleaning. During the summer months, restrooms and other facilities often need cleaning several times daily. Applicants should be prepared for the physical commitment required to support this busy regional park.

 

The park host service term is one calendar year. This position would serve through Dec. 31, 2027. A host may be offered a term for the subsequent calendar year, based on results of a performance evaluation performed in the fall. There is no maximum to the number of consecutive terms a host may serve.

 

The residence includes a washer/dryer, refrigerator and basic kitchen appliances. Clark County provides basic utilities for the host, including electricity, water, sewer and garbage/recycling. The hosts must provide their own phone and internet service. A maximum of two adults and two minors/dependents may reside at the park residence. Additional restrictions, such as limits on pets and guests, are listed on the volunteer program webpage.

Applicants offered positions must submit to state and federal background checks and fingerprinting, provide a rental history and provide proof of renter’s insurance that meets program requirements. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to read the park host policies and procedures, posted on the volunteer program webpage, before applying.
