Clark County Receives Clean Audits And National Recognition For Financial Reporting - 10/06/26

Vancouver, Wash. — The Washington State Auditor’s Office recently issued its annual audit reports on Clark County activities.  For 2025 the state auditors did not identify any reportable findings in the areas reviewed, resulting in “clean” audit opinions.

In addition, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recently awarded the Clark County Auditor’s Office with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2024 Annual

Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the 45th consecutive year the Auditor’s Office has been recognized for the excellence of its financial reporting.

The GFOA also honored the Clark County Auditor’s Office with an Award for Outstanding Achievement for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). The PAFR is a user-friendly report that summarizes information from the county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The Auditor’s Office produced the county’s first PAFR in 2020. This is the fifth consecutive year the office has received this recognition.

“Proper accounting and financial reporting deliver accountability and transparency to the public. Our work reveals how the county used taxpayer dollars and if they were used for their designated purpose. I’m proud of our team for their commitment to provide accurate information to the public and pleased the county received clean audits from the state,” said Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey.

The first report from the Washington State Auditor’s Office contains the results of their audits of the county’s compliance with requirements for: 1) accounting, financial reporting, and 2) federal grants. The second report describes the county’s compliance with state laws, regulations, policies, and controls over the safeguarding of public resources. Audit reports from the Washington State Auditor’s Office can be found on their website. The county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and Popular Annual Financial Report are available on the Clark County Auditor’s Office website.
