Experience The Wonders Of Our Universe At Columbia Basin College Robert And Elisabeth Moore Observatory - 10/01/25
October 1, 2025, Pasco, WA – Starting October 3, 2025 at 8:15 pm, Columbia Basin College (CBC) invites the community to experience the night sky like never before at the Robert and Elisabeth Moore Observatory. Limited public viewing sessions will be offered during the fall and spring months, giving guests the opportunity to explore the vast wonders the sky has to offer.
Whether you’re a lifelong stargazer or experiencing the universe up close for the first time, the observatory offers a chance to connect with the cosmos, gain a new perspective on our place in it, and spark a sense of curiosity and awe that lasts long after the night ends.
The Observatory’s advanced technology allows for breathtaking views of celestial objects. The main telescope allows for equatorial, high-capacity, high-precision observation of Andromeda, a prominent constellation in the northern sky, the upcoming solar eclipse in February 2026, and many other astronomical wonders.
“Come see the stars with us,” said Prisco Blanco, CBC Planetarium and Observatory Director. “We are excited to share this resource with our community and to inspire wonder about our universe.”
In the event of poor weather or scheduled maintenance, guests can still enjoy a general tour of the facility and a 15-minute demonstration in CBC’s CPCco Planetarium. Visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately for outdoor weather, as the Observatory building does not have air conditioning to maintain ambient temperature.
The Observatory was made possible through the generous donation of the late Robert (Bob) Moore and his late wife, Elisabeth Moore, whose vision, and support created a lasting resource for the region.
