Portland, OR: In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Bradley Angle will host the & Still We Rise 2026 Gala, an evening celebrating the resilience, renewal, and rebirth of survivors. The gala will take place Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 6–9 p.m. at Avenue Portland, located at 631 NE Grand Avenue. Purchase your ticket here. 

“Pretending domestic violence isn’t happening doesn’t help us solve the problem,” says Margot Martin, Chief Executive Officer at Bradley Angle.“Only collective support and education are going to move the needle. The ‘& Still We Rise’ gala is an opportunity to support domestic and sexual violence survivors in our community, their children, and the everyday heroes at Bradley Angle that walk alongside them in their journey to safety and stability.”

Founded more than 50 years ago, Bradley Angle was one of the first emergency shelters for women in the country and the first on the West Coast. Named after founders Sharon Bradley and Pam Angle, the organization was created by women who themselves needed safety and support. Today, Bradley Angle provides survivors with safety, education, empowerment, healing, and hope. Rooted in dignity, inclusion, and the strength of survivors, Bradley Angle is committed to creating a world where every person has the right to live free from violence and abuse.

During this year’s gala, Shari Dunn will lead a panel conversation on “The Hidden Survivor” exploring how witnessing domestic violence as children has a lasting impact. Shari is the author of Qualified: How Competency Checking and Race Collide at Work (HarperCollins), and is currently writing Shamed: How Our Hatred of Victims Fuels a Culture of Harm. 

“I am a victim of domestic violence, and I share that because our silence is the wall these children are trapped behind. Bradley Angle is what happens when a community decides to tear that wall down." says Shari. “If we are going to help the hidden victims of domestic violence — the children — we have to be willing to let go of the shame and tell the truth.” 

Dunn is a former practicing attorney representing victims of domestic violence, a television journalist, educator, funder, and nonprofit executive, and is an international keynote speaker who has addressed congressional leaders at the Library of Congress, the British Library, and conferences across the United Kingdom. During her time as a Senior Attorney in Washington, D.C, Shari worked on the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), ensuring legal services providers would continue to receive funding.

“This night is not only a moment to honor survivors and their futures free from violence- it is an act of resistance against the societal norm to silence the voices of those that have been harmed,” says Ayasha Carter, Development Director at Bradley Angle.“Each year, our annual gala does something tremendous- it brings together over 300 people in one room with one very impactful thing in common, they are all there to show their support to survivors." 

Gala tickets include a cocktail reception and premium open bar, a seated dinner and dessert by Devil’s Food Catering, live music by BridgeCity Soul, an inspiring program featuring special guests, an interactive art exhibit which will be displayed in one of our shelters upon completion, and opportunities to celebrate and support Bradley Angle’s impact in the community.
