Portland, Ore.: The Black Business Association of Oregon (BBAO) announces a partnership with The BFM Fund and invites the Oregon business community to the Inaugural Black Wealth Summit on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Tickets are available for purchase here

The BFM Fund aims to close the generational wealth gap by educating Black and diverse families, founders, and business owners on wealth-building strategies. The Black Wealth Summit was designed to unite diverse leaders in capital, finance, and entrepreneurship to unite and explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership, showcasing how entrepreneurship can be a pathway to economic development.

"We are ecstatic to announce this partnership with BBAO and unveil the inaugural Black Wealth Summit," says Himalaya Rao, Managing Director of The BFM Fund. "Over the last year, we brought together diverse leaders of organizations supporting BIPOC and SEDI entrepreneurs across the State of Oregon. The culmination of that is the collective vision of the Black Wealth Summit."

The Summit's panel schedule features five panels on a range of topics, including Generational Wealth and Mindset, Success Stories in Wealth Creation, Capital Access Strategies, Sustaining Multi-Generational Wealth, Insights and Lessons from Family Offices, and Evaluating Results and Returns.

"Our goal is to convene a conversation centered around Black wealth very intentionally in Portland, Oregon, and ensure that both diverse entrepreneurs and emerging fund managers look to Oregon as a place they can raise funds and create innovative businesses and firms," says Rao. "We have a plethora of out-of-state visionaries, including recently exited founder Beatrice Dixon, and special guests and co-founders of Saysh, Allyson and Wes Felix, who are joining us to support this mission of putting Oregon on the national map of entrepreneurial activity and investment."

The Summit will focus on wealth education, economic mobility, and a resource library. The resource library will offer a range of books and materials on generational wealth building and advanced tools and resources designed to support individuals and families in managing their businesses. The Business Showcase, powered by Oregon MBDA and Prosper Portland, will also feature ten diverse Oregon-based businesses across various industries.

"This Summit is not just about wealth building—it's about creating a legacy of economic resilience and opportunity within the Black community," says Rachel Wilson, Managing Partner of The BFM Fund. "We hope that attendees will gain knowledge on financial wellness and readiness. And we hope they expand their network with experts or partners who can support their family legacy building and their businesses."

The BBAO will co-host the happy hour event to unite diverse leaders in a relaxed atmosphere and build camaraderie and relationships among the participants and attendees. "This partnership is so important at this particular time because if people of color are going to survive and prosper in this current economic climate, diverse leaders must partner and collaborate to drive entrepreneurship development in our respected communities." says Lance Randall, the Executive Director of the BBAO. "There is no better way to build trust and consensus than through genuine fellowship."

The Inaugural Black Wealth Summit is for anyone interested in fostering economic mobility, building generational wealth, and expanding their network with experts and peers in the business and finance sectors.
