Dreaming In Color In Partnership With Jack Daniels Present: Black + Loud Music Festival -03/07/24
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3/7/2024:
Dreaming In Color in Partnership With Jack Daniels Present the Black + Loud Music Festival
April 6, 2024 in Portland, OR
Portland, Oregon – Black music culture is more than Hip Hop and R&B. As far back as the 1930’s and 1940’s Sister Rosetta Tharpe lit the torch of rock and roll, bringing distorted electric guitar first to Gospel music and then Rock and Roll. Her fire still burns to this day. In this spirit, two young black artists hailing from the Pacific Northwest – Cameron Lavi-Jones of King Youngblood and Anthony Briscoe of Down North decided it is high time that Black artists fully reclaim rock music. Together, they founded the aptly titled Black & Loud Fest.
The inaugural event in 2022 was a smashing success. The team did it again to even bigger success in Seattle in 2023 – see www.blackandloudfest.com for some outstanding recap videos. Now Black and Loud in partnership with their title sponsor Jack Daniels go national starting with Black and Loud Fest Portland 2024 at the Bossanova Ballroom bringing a huge line up of black fronted bands to all three Bossanova Ballroom stages for a full venue takeover on Saturday April 6, 2024.
Black & Loud Fest celebrates the long lineage of Black artists that have strapped on a guitar and raised their fist to the sky, with a spectacular line up of Black artists from the Pacific Northwest, Los Angeles and even Toronto Ontario Canada. Says Lavi-Jones, “The story has never been fully told about Black artists’ musical roles alternative genres in rock and roll. We are putting on Black & Loud so that there is no longer a question of the tour de force of black artists working outside stereotypical black genres both in the Pacific Northwest and across North America. This is something culturally significant not only for BIPOC people (Black, Indigenous People of Color) but for everyone.”
“We are especially thrilled to support so many Black artists and Black front bands from Portland from many different musical genres. – This is exactly the mission and purpose for Black and Loud.” Says Anthony Briscoe – co-founding artist of Black and Loud and front man for Down North.
