At approximately 5:03 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, Bend Police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of the 1900 block of NE Cobble Creek Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing people screaming and at least one gunshot.
Prior to officers’ arrival, a man left the scene and ran north on Shadow Brook Place toward Jackson Avenue. The man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and gray shoes. Officers believed the man may have left the home while still armed.
Officers were able to communicate with the man, identified as 41-year-old Micah Alan Reid, but he refused to share his location with Bend Police.
After approximately two hours, negotiators were able to convince Reid to turn himself in and provide his location, and officers took Reid into custody in the area of Northeast Purcell Boulevard and Lynda Lane.
An investigation determined that during a domestic dispute, Reid shot a 9-mm handgun into the floor of a home in the presence of another adult. When officers cleared the house on Cobble Creek Avenue, they located the gun in question.
Reid was arrested for menacing, harassment, reckless endangerment, unlawful use of a weapon as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail.
Bend Police used armored vehicles and unmanned aerial systems (drones) in an effort to locate Reid.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Redmond Police and Oregon State Police all assisted on the call. Bend Police appreciates their help.
