On Friday, Nov. 11, Bend Police arrested a Troutdale teacher after an investigation into online sexual predators.
Beginning on Friday, Nov. 4, an officer engaged in online messaging with a 26-year-old man from Portland, later identified as Edward Hernandez-Corchado. The officer told Hernandez-Corchado that she was a 15-year-old female from Central Oregon. Hernandez-Corchado continued contacting the officer and making sexual statements, and then began making plans to meet up in person at Target in Bend to engage in sexual acts with her.
On Friday, Nov. 11, the officer and Hernandez-Corchado arranged to meet at Target at 8 p.m. so he could take her to a hotel. Hernandez-Corchado specifically traveled from the Portland area intending to commit sexual acts with an underage girl. When Hernandez-Corchado arrived at the store, he was arrested and taken into custody.
Hernandez-Corchado is a social studies teacher at Reynolds High School in Troutdale.
Hernandez-Corchado was transported to the Deschutes County Jail on the above charges. Bend Police believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 503-988-0560.
