Two Bend Men Arrested In Two Separate Burglaries -01/03/22

Suspect 1: Jasper Smith / 27-year-old male / Bend Oregon

Suspect 2: Brian Anthony Heredia / 32-year-old Male / Bend Oregon

Incident #1 Case Number: 2021-0074481

On December 31st 2021, officers with the Bend Police Department took a report of a Burglary that occurred at Local Motors located at 2460 NE Division Street in Bend. The Burglary occurred at 12:30 AM and video surveillance showed an unknown male suspect enter the business through a window. The suspect stole several items from the business before leaving. Bend Police Officers were unable to identify the suspect at that time. 

On January 2nd 2022 at 9:08 PM, an officer with the Bend Police Department noticed a male in the area of NE Hawthorne and NE 2nd Street. The male matched the description of the suspect who was caught on video surveillance at Local Motors. The suspect fled when the officer attempted to contact him. Several officers arrived in the area and the suspect was located and taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Jasper Smith, who confessed to the burglary. Smith was transported to the Deschutes County Jail and booked on charges of Burglary II and Theft I.

Incident #2 Case Number 2022-00000429

On January 3rd 2022 at 1:45 PM, officers from the City of Bend Police Department responded to a burglary in progress. The reporting person (RP) advised he located a male suspect inside Central Oregon Veterans Outreach when he arrived to pick up donations. The suspect fled out the front door when he was confronted by the RP. Officers with the Bend Police Department and Deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office arrived in the area and set up a perimeter. Bend PD K9 “Kim” and DCSO K9 “Ronin” began tracking the suspect. 

At 2:20 PM, the suspect, identified as Brian Heredia, was located at the bus stop at NW Bond and NW Columbia. Heredia was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Deschutes County Jail. Heredia was booked on Burglary II, Criminal Mischief II, Theft III, and Criminal Trespass II.

The Bend Police Department would like to thank the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending the suspect.
