Vehicle crash into residence ends leads to DUII arrest - 07/18/21

Incident: Vehicle crash into residence/DUII arrest

Date and Time: Saturday, July 17th, 2021 at 9:38 p.m.

Location: Residence in the 400 block of SE Railroad Street

Arrested: Lela Britton 40-year-old Bend resident

Victim:

49-year-old female Bend Resident

39-year-old female Bend Resident

Narrative:

On Saturday July 17, 2021 at 9:38 p.m. Officers from the City of Bend Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash into a residence in the 400 block of SE Railroad Street. Deschutes County 911 dispatch reported multiple callers reporting the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed before it crashed into the residence. The 911 callers further reported after the initial crash the vehicle backed up and collided with a parked car in the driveway of the residence and then into the structure again.

The vehicle fled the area before officers arrived. Multiple witnesses described the vehicle as a silver or white Subaru Legacy or Outback. A witness provided Officers with a video of part of the incident. At about 9:55 p.m. a city of Bend Police Officer located a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses on Hunnell Road north of the intersection of Empire Avenue. The vehicle is a Silver Subaru Outback. Officers located Lela Britton a short distance away from the vehicle. Britton was contacted and arrested for DUII and Hit and Run.

Officers requested and were authorized a warrant to seize the vehicle for further investigation.

Britton was taken to the Deschutes County Adult Jail where she was charged with the following crimes.

Reckless Driving
