Location: 1800 NE Linnea Drive, Pilot Butte State Park Parking Trailhead and Playground

Arrested) Garrett Gerdes, 23 year old male, Bend

On October 3, 2020 around 4:36 p.m. Bend Police were aware of two separate First Amendment events, with opposing views, located at 1800 NE Linnea Drive. We were aware of a flag that was taken and a male displayed a handgun.

Garrett Gerdes who stole the flag was cited and released.

Bend Police patrol vehicles were blocked in, interfering with the duties of the officers.

This is an open case and is still under investigation.  We will continue to investigate the crimes and work with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office for the prosecution.
