Bend Police Investigates Shooting At SE Bend Motel - 07/11/20

The Bend Police Department has identified the deceased female and male as

20 year old Jazarae Danielle Caubet and 21 year old Antonio Martin Lopez.

 

Based on information obtained during the investigation, it appears that Lopez shot and killed Caubet. Lopez then called 911 to report that he just shot Caubet and then he ended his life by suicide. It is unknown at this time what led up to the shooting, however the Bend Police Department did confirm that Lopez and Caubet knew each other.

 

Any further inquiries to this investigation should be directed to the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office.

Location of Incident: 800 SE 3rd Street #28 (Holiday Motel)

Deceased: 20 year-old female Bend, OR resident (name withheld pending next of kin notification)

Deceased: 21 year-old male Bend, OR resident (name withheld pending next of kin notification)

Narrative:

On July 10th at approximately 10:45 PM, Bend Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting that had just occurred at the Holiday Motel in southeast Bend. Prior to officers arriving on scene, the adult male had called 911, reporting that he had shot the female and requested that officers respond immediately. Officers, Deputies and Troopers from the Bend Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police responded to assist. Upon arrival, officers located the adult male and adult female deceased in the parking lot, along with the firearm. The Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) responded to the scene to clear the room and conduct welfare checks on all tenants on scene. No other parties were injured during this incident. There is no safety threat to the community.
