Type of Incident:                Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing, and Assault

Location of Incident:         7 Eleven (256 NE Franklin Ave)

Victim Information:

25 year old Marcos Contreras (7 Eleven employee)

Suspect Information:

32 year old Joshua Seeley

Narrative:

On Monday, June 15th, 2020, at approximately 2244 hours, Officers responded to 7 Eleven, 256 NE Franklin Ave, regarding a physical fight in progress. Witnesses reported a male was actively attacking and punching a 7 Eleven employee. As Officers were en route to the call they learned one subject had attempted to use a knife in the course of the fight.

When officers arrived on scene they located the two males, still engaged in the fight.  Both males were detained.  After learning the involvement of the two subjects, the victim was identified and released.

Further investigation revealed that Seeley and a female companion had been in the store creating a disturbance and cursing at employees.  When employees asked Seeley and his female companion to leave the store Seeley became verbally aggressive and challenged Contreras to a fight.  Contreras declined to engage, but made an attempt to escort Seeley out of the store.

Once outside the store Seeley punched Contreras in the face with a closed fist.  During the fight Seeley made threats to kill Contreras and Seeley reached for a knife he had sheathed on his hip.  Contreras was able to gain control of the knife and took it from Seeley.  A bystander was able to secure the knife and made attempts to separate the two.

Contreras was treated for his injuries on scene by Bend Fire Department.  Seeley was arrested and transported to St Charles for injuries sustained during the fight.  Seeley was later transported to Deschutes County Adult Jail on the below listed charges.
