                                           Oregon State Police Trooper

Narrative:

On February 18, 2020 the Oregon State Police learned Trooper Colin Tracy was a suspect in a domestic violence incident. OSP put Colin Tracy on paid administrative leave and requested the Bend Police Department investigate the allegations.

For the past two weeks, Detectives with the Bend Police Department have been investigating this incident. Bend Police learned Tracy assaulted a person known to him, a 39 year old female Bend resident. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries during the assault. Bend Police learned through the investigation that the assault took place in Powell Butte, Oregon in July 2019. Tracy was not believed to be on duty at the time of the incident. After being contacted by investigators on March 4th, Tracy voluntarily turned himself in at the Bend Police Department and was arrested without incident.

Tracy was transported to the Crook County Jail, where he was lodged on Assault IV/Domestic Violence charges (Misdemeanor).  This case is currently under review by the Crook County District Attorney’s Office.

Statement from the Oregon State PoliceAs per OSP Policy, if Trooper Tracy is formally charged, we will begin the process to place him on unpaid administrative leave.

While Trooper Tracy is entitled to due process, the Oregon State Police strongly condemns acts of domestic violence.  OSP, and the public, expects and deserves a higher standard from their State Troopers and if these allegations are found to be true this act falls well below those expectations.

All further requests for information should be directed to the Crook County District Attorney’s office.
