Third Suspect identified and arrested in Bend Hoax Bomb Threat.

Suspect #3:  William Swanson   40 year old Redmond resident

On 08-08-2019 at 1:23 PM, Officers with the Bend Police Department contacted and arrested a third suspect involved in the Bend Hoax Bomb threat that occurred on Monday July 29th.

The suspect, William Swanson, was contacted at 21583 Stem Place in Bend and taken into custody following a ten day multi-agency investigation. This was a collaborative effort between the Bend Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Portland Bomb Squad, Redmond Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the public. Hundreds of hours were devoted to following up on tips, reviewing surveillance videos, scouring through cell phone records, conducting numerous interviews and executing multiple search warrants. 

The Bend Police Department would like to thank all of the assisting agencies and public for their assistance during this intensive investigation.

Swanson was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on the below listed charges:

Possession of a Hoax Device

Disorderly Conduct I

Criminal Conspiracy
