Cougar confirmed in SW Bend - 02/06/19

Date:  February 6th, 2019

Type of Incident:  Cougar confirmed in SW Bend

Location of Incident:  River Canyon Estates, SW Bend

Timeframe:  February 4th- February 5th




Local Representative from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have confirmed reports of a Cougar in the area of SW Bend.  The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife advised cougar tracks were located along the rim adjacent to River Canyon Estates as well as within the backyard of a residence in that area.  The cougar was believed to have been in the area between February 4th and February 5th. 


Officials have notified area schools as well as homeowner associations in the immediate area.  They posted signs warning signs within the neighborhoods and along the river rim and river trail areas.  Department of Fish and Wildlife officials will continue to monitor the area for signs of the cougar.
