Arrest Related to Arson At Historic Thomas McCann House In Bend (Photo) - 11/05/18

Date & Time of Incident: November 1st – November 2nd

Type of Incident: Arson

Location of Incident: 440 NW Congress Street, City of Bend

Suspect Information: Wesley Brady, 37-year-old Bend Resident

Victim Information: Sanjay Dholakia, 48-year-old Bend Resident

Narrative:  After this Arson was reported, the victim’s residence was processed for evidence.  When the victim homeowners returned to the residence, they located items left behind in the residence that did not belong to them.  Bend Police Officers investigated the items, which lead them to suspect Wesley Brady.  Assisted by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Deputies, Bend Officers contacted and arrested Wesley Brady at his residence.  Items taken from the victim’s residence were located on Brady’s property and seized as evidence.  In their contact with Brady, officers determined that Brady needed care at St. Charles Medical Center and he was transported to that location.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may follow.

Narrative:

On November 2nd 2018, Officers with the Bend Police Department and Bend Fire Department responded to the residence located at 440 NW Congress Street on a reported fire that was started inside the vacant residence. The reporting party was doing remodeling in the house and when he arrived at the house this morning at 10:00 AM it was full of smoke.

Upon arrival, officers located several areas inside the residence where fires were started however all the fires were out. Based on evidence at the scene it appears that the fires were started intentionally. Bend Fire Investigators and Bend Police are conducting the arson investigation.
