Narrative:
On August 11, at 2:25 am officers with the Bend Police Department were dispatched to the area of Butler Market Road and Wells Acres Road for a heard only motor vehicle crash. Officers searched the area and eventually located a roll-over crash with one occupant still inside. Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, and the Bend Fire and Rescue responded to the area to search for additional occupants or victims.
During the investigation, officers learned Christopher Stenkamp was driving a Ford pickup and was travelling east on Butler Market Road. Stenkamp’s vehicle left the roadway near Wells Acres Road and struck numerous trees and rocks before coming to a stop upside down. It was initially believed there were additional occupants of the vehicle but further search of the area found nobody else was involved. Stenkamp was transported to St. Charles Medical Center where he was admitted for injuries.
