Narrative:
On July 13th, 2018 at 2159 hours, Bend Police Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of 27th St, just south of E. Hwy 20. Initial reports indicated a pedestrian had been hit and was laying on the ground with head injuries. On the arrival of officers, Sondgeroth was located with significant injuries and Bend Fire arrived shortly after. Sondgeroth was subsequently transported by ambulance to St. Charles Bend.
During the initial investigation, it was determined by debris left at the scene and witness statements that Sondgeroth had been struck by a vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to remain at the scene and fled in an unknown direction.
The crash occurred when Sondgeroth was attempting to cross 27th St, south of the pedestrian crosswalk at E. Hwy 20. Sondgeroth was struck by a VW Rabbit, which was later determined to have been driven by Dominguez. Dominguez fled the scene.
Officers were able to locate Dominguez at approximately 2300 hours at the Downtown Bend parking garage where he was arrested for the listed charges. Dominguez was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail. Alcohol was a factor in this crash.
Sondgeroth is currently listed in serious condition at St. Charles Bend.
Charges:
DUII, Assault II, Felony Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering (2 counts) and MIP.
