Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash on Southbound Parkway at Powers Road (Photo) - 07/05/18

Deceased Person:

Stephanie Ann Rogers                                 47 year old                                          Bend resident

Driver:

Shawn Walter Buche                                   51 year old                                           La Pine resident

Updated Narrative:

The Bend Police Department is updating the information regarding the deceased person in the motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occured late in the evening on July 3rd. 

Buche has been cooperating with the investigation since July 3rd. Early information learned is Rogers was walking from the East side of the Bend Parkway, crossing to the West. Rogers was wearing dark clothing and was struck by the Ford F150 driven by Buche. 

Bend Police Traffic Investigators are continuing with their investigation to find a cause of the crash.

Narrative:

On July 3rd, 2018 at 10:55pm, officers with the Bend Police Department responded to the intersection of South Highway 97 and Powers Road for the report of a motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Officers arrived on scene and attempted life saving efforts on an unconscious female, but the efforts were unsuccessful. Officers learned the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and attempting to cross Highway 97.

The Bend Police Department was assisted on scene by Oregon State Police, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Bend Fire, ODOT and Bend Public Works. Highway 97 south was shut down for four hours while the investigation was conducted.
