Officers from our Intelligent Led Policing detail (ILP) started compiling information on this investigation. They were able to identify a suspect in the thefts. Jason Girod was identified as a person of interest in the thefts of construction equipment. Using several different investigative techniques, the officers were able to obtain enough information for a search warrant of Girod' residence, located 16000 block of Green Forest Road in La Pine. Girod and a passenger, Steven Mock, were contacted during a traffic stop on State Rec Road near South Highway 97 on January 31 at 8:47 am. Both were in Girod's 1999 Dodge pickup, which was pulling an enclosed utility trailer. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, the trailer and Girod's residence, over $15,000 dollars of stolen tools were recovered. Some of the stolen property was located inside the trailer towed by Girod's pickup. This trailer was legally owned by Girod. Over four grams of suspected methamphetamine was located inside Girod's vehicle. The search warrant was served at Girod's residence just after 9:00am on January 31. Two stolen utility trailers were also recovered on Girod's property. During this investigation, stolen property was recovered from four different construction site thefts. One of the thefts occurred the night earlier at a construction site in La Pine. Additional stolen property was identified and is currently being matched up to additional stolen property cases.
