News Release
Boyd Selected as New High School Principal - 03/15/19

Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Shay Mikalson announced today that Chris Boyd has been selected to serve as the principal for the new high school in southeast Bend. Boyd is currently the principal at Pacific Crest Middle School in Bend and he served as planning principal prior to the school opening.

Boyd previously served as Associate Director of Secondary Programs for North Clackamas School District, principal at Happy Valley Middle School and assistant principal at Clackamas High School. Boyd also has 9 years of teaching experience.

“I am excited to work with the community, staff members and — most importantly —students to think about how we can build a comprehensive high school that puts students at the center of everything we do,” said Boyd. “I want our new high school to help students grow academically and socially and to be ready for their futures in college and career.”

The new high school, which is slated to open in the fall of 2021, will be located at the corner of Knott Road and SE 15th Street and is funded through the 2017 construction bond passed by voters.
