Fire North Of Cooley Road Bend Oregon (Photo) -08/15/20

***update 9:20pm****

At 9:30, Dechutes County Sheriff's office and City of Bend Police Department will be dropping the level 3 evacuation notice for residences north of Cooley Road and east of Highway 97. Level 1 evacuation notice for residences in JD Estates will also be dropped.

People's neighborhoods being effected by the smoke are being advised to close windows and doors this evening. Cars will continue to burn all night creating smoke in that area.

St. Francis of Assisi at 2450 NE 27th will be supporting those effected by evacuation

Bend Fire & Rescue crews responded to a wildland fire at 3:50 p.m. this afternoon in the area of HWY97 near MP .

Fire moved into the Juniper Ridge area and began threatening outbuildings and a commericial business of Bend Auto wreckers. Due to the fire quickly growing in size and the potential of the fire moving into residential areas, mutual aid resources including several strike teams and air resources were brought in to assist with attack fire attack.

As of 7:15 p.m. this evening forward progress of the fire has been stopped due to aggressive air attacks. Two outbuildings were destroyed by the fire and Bend Auto Wreckers has heavy fire damage.

Neighborhoods east of HWY 97 and north of Cooley Road have been evacuated. Areas of Scottsdale Road and JD Ranch are currently under level 1 evacuation level.

Hwy 97 between Tumalo Road and Bend is currently closed.
